  현대 음악에서는 크게 세가지 음악으로 나눌수 있다
  
  01 클라식 Classic
  
  02 팝 Pop = Popular
  
  03 민속음악 Treditional
  
  
  
  이 세가지 음악에서 음악이 발전하면서 세분화되어 나눠지는데 세분화 된 음악 종류(장르)를 다 안다는 것은 무리다
  
  분류적으로 봤을때 큰 분류만 알아도 될것이다
  
  들어보고 바로 알수 있으려면 한부류(장르) 음악을 여러곡 듣다보면
  
  자연적으로 아! 이것이 재즈다 부르스다 락이다 라고 알수 있어 질 것이다

  재즈 스탠다드를 모아서 앨범을 발매하는 경우는 웬만큼 성공했다 싶은 재즈 연주자들은
  
  누구나 하나씩은 발매하니까 굉장히 흔한 일입니다. 좀 어렵게 해석하는 경우도 있고
  
  거의 원래의 형태를 그대로 유지하는 경우도 있는데 아무래도 첨에는 원래의 형태를
  
  유지하는 경우가 듣기에 좋습니다.
  
  이렇게 스탠다드를 많이 들어서 익숙해지기 시작하면 다른 연주자들은 어떤식으로
  
  이 곡들을 연주했는가를 찾아보는것도 재즈를 재미있게 들을수 있는 한 방법입니다.
  
  그리고 한곡을 다른 방식으로 연주하는 많은 버젼을 들어보다보면 수많은 재즈의 스타일
  
  들을 쉽게 이해할 수 있습니다.
  
  스탠다드 곡들은 쉽게 좋아할 수 있는 곡들이다 보니 자신이 좋아하는 곡들을 즐기듯이
  
  여러 스타일로 듣다보면 어느새 재즈가 쉽게 느껴지시는 겁니다.

  스탠다드들은 요즘 TV, 영화의 주제가 들처럼 누가 들어도 좋은 확연하고 심플한 멜로디
  
  라인을 가지고 있고 또 오랜 세월을 거치면서 대중들의 반응이 별로 없는 경우는 스스로
  
  도태되어 왔기 때문에 아직도 많이 연주되는 스탠다드 곡들은 그야말로 '명곡 중의 명곡'들
  
  만 남아있는 셈입니다.
  
  누구나 알고 있는 Over the Rainbow, Fly to the moon, My funny valentine,
  As time goes by I love you for sentimental reasons 같은 곡들이 스탠다드들 입니다.
  
  워낙에 좋은 곡들이기 때문에 어떤 스타일로 연주해도 일단 기본적으로 듣는 사람들의
  
  관심을 유도할 수 있습니다.

  재즈는 40년대까지 재즈라는 쟝르를 위해서 전문적으로 작곡을 하
  
  는 재즈 전문 작곡가가 없었습니다.
  
  간혹 연주자들이 한 두곡 작곡을 하는 경우는 있었지만 대부분 뮤지컬이나
  
  TV 드라마, 영화 주제가 등을 가져다가 재즈식으로 편곡해서 연주하는 경우가 대부분
  
  이었습니다. 40년대에 들어서 Thelonius Monk 라는 비밥 피아니스트가 거의 모두가 인정
  
  하는 최초의 재즈 전문 작곡가 입니다.
  
  그런데 재즈 식으로 연주하기 시작했던 뮤지컬, 드라마, 영화 주제가 중에서 무지
  
  히트를 치기 시작한 곡들은 '재즈 스탠다드'라고 해서 재즈라는 쟝르를 지탱해 주는
  
  주요 레퍼토리로 자리잡기 시작합니다. 그래서 이 스탠다드 곡들은 수 많은 재즈 연주자
  
  들의 앨범에서 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있습니다.
  
  스탠다드 들은 클래식에서 베토벤의 몇 번 교향곡, 쇼팽의 야상곡 이런 곡들이 몇 백년
  
  동안 수많은 연주자들에 의해서 연주되는 것처럼 리메이크 라는 개념보다는 스탠다드
  
  라는 단어의 뜻처럼 하나의 '기준곡'이 되어 그 연주자의 음악적인 특징과 개성을
  
  드러내는데 효과적인 방법인 셈입니다.
